Which part am I suitable for?
Browse through the parts available and decide which part you would most suit. Then download the monologue for that part and learn it for your audition. Remember, all characters sing, some just in character voices, so we still need to hear you sing in your audition. All actors playing two or more characters MUST show strong contrast between how they portray each role.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Belle: Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. Brunette. Beautiful. You must be a wonderful singer and have the stage presence to accomplish the perfection, intelligence and charisma that this character requires.

Mrs Pots / Scooter / Enchantress: Mrs Potts, over the top character role in full pot costume. Very funny. Sings "Popular" from Wicked so much be an excellent singer. Scooter is Belle's little dog, full suit character, face visible. Enchantress is the mysterious witch who introduces the story.
Must move well, be full of energy and fun, as well as great comic timing.

Esmerelda: Principal girl, neutral accent.
A bit feistier that your average fairy tale princess, but with a very caring nature. Wild, a gypsy. Brunette.

Mamma Frollo / Djali: Character/comedy role - very over the top, bossy but lovable. The only person who can keep the 'bad guy' under control, because she is his mother. May be done with an accent, cockney, irish etc. Quasimodo's mother - must move and act well - some singing required. Djali is Esmerelda's goat friend, typical suit character, more laid back and cool. Hilarious and naughty.

SLEEPING BEAUTY
Aurora/Queen Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. A little girl's dream of a princess! Blonde. The Queen is the mother of Rose and is very eccentric and fun, good comic timing required.

Fairy Floss/Mite Character/comedy role. A slightly off the wall fairy sometimes not sure of what's going on, but sometimes with it all the way. Chance for comedy and improv and some singing.
Mite is a contrasting troll character. One of Malificent's servants, a suck up, wanting to be like her, a chance to be evil and silly at the same time.

Maleficent The Villain. The evil queen. Nasty and bossy, not a very feminine woman. Powerful and commanding she oozes meanness. Sings her own song.

CINDERELLA
Cinderella Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. A little girl's dream of a princess! Minimises her bad situation, has a deep down sense of worthlessness. Blonde / fair.

Fairy Godmother / Hormone Character/comedy role. A beautiful fairy (not old), sings beautifully and is kind and funny as well. Hormone, the ugly step sister is horrible and disgusting, over the top. Kinda valley girl, Mean Girls type character.

Trombone (Ugly Stepsister 2) Another horrible ugly step sister! Character/Comedy role. Kinda valley girl, Mean Girls type character. Has lots of interaction with the audience and competes with her sister for who is the 'hottest'.

Evil Stepmother Villain. Thinks she's the most intelligent and beautiful mother, with the best daughters. Quite crazy. Sword fighting skills needed. Wants only money. Quite horrible and nasty, turns very evil in the end.

HERCULES
Megara / Fates / Hera Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. Red hair/brunette. Cynical, whatever attitude to everything. Been hurt a lot. Not a typical Alpha princess character. Learns to forgive.
Also plays Hera, the crazy eccentric Goddess, and the Fates, the mysterious 3 headed and 3 voiced woman.

Pegasus / Muse Character/comedy role & Narrator Role. One of the best parts in all of Alpha's shows, Pegasus is a hilarious suit horse character, with wings, who speaks and acts like a little greek tough man. Fully sick! Muse, very contrasting, is an elegant goddess who has amazing rapport with the audience and tells the story through song, dance and fun narration.

ALADDIN
Jasmine / Carpet Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. A little girl's dream of a princess! Must be slim enough to pull off showing stomach, and look 'right' for Jasmine. Dark hair. Also plays non-speaking Carpet character, in full carpet with face hidden.

Abu Sidekick/comedy role. Abu is a bratty 10 year old kid essentially, so there's lots of chances for fun and comedy in this role. Face showing with makeup, similar to Scooter. Must be cute but also wicked as well.

KING ARTHUR
Guinevere / Lady of the Lake Principal girl, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. Guinever is blonde. She is strong and feminine, a leader. Also plays the mysterious and beautiful Lady of the Lake so must contrast. She performs a small closed eye also.

Katoka / Banshee Sidekick/comedy roles. Banshee is the sidekick to the villain, Morgana, quite naughty and evil but still loves giving Morgana a hard time. Katoka is the guard at Camelot and helps out Merlin, a Dragon.

Morgana Villain. Part of the Council of Camelot, tries to 'get ahead' by being 'charming' and nice but eventually gets sick of this and turns Lancelot to the dark side. Eventually quite evil, but must show contrast and appear pleasant to begin with.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Beast: Principal boy
Must sing, move and act well. Strong vocal technique required. Lots of growling. Wears full head suit for most of performance to create Beast character.

Timeson / Papa Billy: Character/comedy role. Must sing, act and move well.
Timeson is the pedantic, rushing clock character. Rushing and anal.
Papa Billy is Belle's bumbling father - must have contrasting accent and physicality

Luminaire / Jiggins: Character/comedy role. Must move well. Has quite a lot of singing that must sound good. Performs LONG and complicated belief busting and closed eye portion of show, must be able to learn script well and then adapt to audience to help them understand the concept of 'limiting beliefs'. Quite the challenge - must also balance with comedy.
French candlestick - very upright and big movements.
Jiggins is Gaston's cool sidekick, very cheeky and hilarious, bit of a cool dude (not like Disney's Lafou).

Phoebus / Father Tourangeau: Character / comedy role. Improvisation skills required. Must sing, move and act well. Sings a number of songs, one on his own. Phoebus is a full suit crocodile costume, including head - he's quite funny. Father is an Irish priest that is also very funny.

Headless Hugo / Jiacomo: Character role. Narration required in French accent. Diction impeccable.
Must act and move well. Some singing required. Chance for quite a bit of comedy. Hugo is a full suit ghost character, actor's head hidden with fake head in hands. Does 'closed eye' portion of show (long inspirational speech) inside suit character.

Archdeacon Frollo: Character role. Villain. Must sing, move and act well. Very powerful and nasty, but he's afraid of his mother. Sings his own song, as well as other songs.

SLEEPING BEAUTY
King Bob/Professor Bumblebore Character Role The King, princess Aurora's father is crazy and full of random ideas and information...however, has a wisdom underneath that is due to an understanding of the importance of our path and destiny. Performs 'closed eye' portion of show.
The Professor is the narrator to the story, he seems to make a lot of 'dad' jokes that make you groan. Just be a bit crazy. Some singing required.

Andy/Veg Character/comedy role Andy is the court jester and has quite a lot of dry witty lines, as well as being secretly (even to himself) in love with the Fairy. Chance for comedy and improv. Sings quite a number of songs, mainly in character but must sound in tune!
Veg a is a contrasting troll character. One of Malificent's servants. He turns good in the end and helps save the day. We want him to be cool and funky, not so 'dumb'.

Baldrick / Beady Character/comedy role. Baldrick is a little bit camp, but not overly sexual for children's theatre. He's hilarious and over the top, very lovable. Beady is a suit character, a mouse, with a cockney accent. He's very witty and bratty, and will be a favourite with the kids.

HERCULES
Hercules / Hermes Principal boy, neutral accent.
Standard boy grows into hero character. Fun and a bit of comedy. Also plays Hermes, the crazy flamboyant messenger in 1 scene at the start.

Amphitryon / Zeus / Achelous Character roles. With a bit of comedy too, Zeus has a lot of the philosophical and spiritual content to deliver, as well as the necessary plot requirements. Ability to learn a script very thoroughly. He also has a large sword fight with Hades at the end. Amphitryon is Hercules' earthly father, can be quite silly and bumbling, must contrast. Achelous is a bull-like suit character that comes on to fight Hercules, so has a long hand-to-hand stage combat sequence.

Weasel & Philoctetes Comedy/Sidekick roles. Phil is the comedy role that also delivers the hero closed eye speech. He dances and sings a lot and must have great timing and energy and lovability. Weasel is the slimy servant of Hades, bit of an idiot. Mask character with mouth showing. Does a bit of rapping too. A lot of fun.

Hades Villain. All about the deals! Hades plots and plans and is quite taken with himself, but really just wants to upgrade his place to Olympus. Not really that much of a villain, just scheming to advance in life

ALADDIN
Aladdin Principal boy, neutral accent.
Incredibly energetic, fun and a bit mischievous. Pretends to be sure of himself until he gets to Palace where his true fears start to show. Finally understands the law of wishing and transforms Neo from Matrix style

Ashkar / Sultan Vinegar Sidekick/comedy role. Ashkar, based on a Patrick Warburton character, is dopey but fun. Sultan is eccentric and loud and funny. Sings a few songs. Also does voiceover for Cave.

Genie & Merchant Dice Comedy roles. Genie is the fast talking, hilarious eccentric Genie, also performs the closed eye to teach how to 'wish' for things. Merchant Dice is an eccentric merchant who wears, yes, a dice on his head (as a turban!). He tells the story but is quite a character on his own!

Jafar Villain. Just about as nasty as they come. Slight Arabian accent. Doesn't take nearly as much delight from the audience as other villains. Very evil but also has to 'suck up' at times to the Sultan, so there's a lot of repressed emotion there.

KING ARTHUR
Arthur Principal boy, neutral accent.
Must sing, move and act well. Struggles to find his place and eventually finds the oneness within and how to create that in the kingdom to become the King he was destined to be.

Lancelot / Mordred Character/Villain role. Actually just the one character, but we have Lancelot turn into Mordred through Morgana's bewitching and lures. Very very complicated and tough role acting-wise, to win an audience over then turn evil and then have to come back from the 'dark side' at the end.
