How to prepare for your audition
You'll want to be prepared for your audition so you can do your best, so explore this area fully and read all the Useful Resources on the side.
How to apply?
Alpha has a very streamlined audition application process. First, choose which date and city you wish to audition at by going to the audition calendar.
Then you must apply online, filling out your experience, attaching your cv and headshot, and answering some important questions. Here you can write in which audition day you wish to attend.
At some point before the audition date you will be sent an email with a time reserved just for you. To accept, you must reply via email to confirm that you want the time. If you do not reply or you do not turn up to your audition, it is unlikely you would be offered another time. However, we are very flexible, so if anything changes just email us to keep us up to speed with your movements and to reschedule to another time or date.
What to prepare?
You'll need to prepare 1 monologue to read from the list of parts available on the Which Part am I suitable for? page. Choose the character that you feel you are most suited to. We will still consider you for parts that you don't read for. They are so short that you may even want to prepare a couple of them (although we may not see all of them, at the director's discretion). Script in hand is 'acceptable'.
You'll also need to prepare 1 pop song or modern musical theatre song and bring your own backing track on cd. All of our shows are performed with backing tracks so it is important that we hear you sing with one. We have a large selection of tracks available on the day if you can't get your own - click here for the backing track list - but obviously you can't practice with ours.
Note that you must be over 18 and be ready for full time touring work away from home to work for Alpha.
